Medical Systems: Unifying complex maintenance workflows in regulated healthcare

My Role: Design Lead | Timeline: 2.5 months | Team: 1 UX designer, 2 UI designers, dev team

Led design strategy to consolidate fragmented medical software and hardware maintenance workflows into a unified experience for a leading cancer treatment technology provider.

  • Outcome
  • Net-new unified maintenance experience defined
  • User testing introduced before development
  • Improved stakeholder alignment and clarity
  • Experience now in development

The Challenge

Multiple disconnected workflows needed to be unified under strict regulatory constraints, frequent requirement changes, and limited access to end users. The challenge was creating clarity and cohesion without direct user input or slowing delivery.

My Approach

I established a flexible systems framework that prioritized the full workflow before individual features, allowing components to evolve without breaking the whole. I also pushed for user validation before development handoff, shifting stakeholder assumptions and increasing confidence.
